Technology Tools for Students

Remember the days when our learning tools were just paper and pencil? We would get excited when the cart holding the TV and VCR would roll into the classroom. Oh, and overhead projectors with transparencies. If you are wondering what I am talking about then I just totally aged myself, but it’s cool, those are tools of the past.

If I mentioned these tools to my students today they would look at me with confused faces wondering what I was talking about. In today’s classrooms students are using new and improved technologies that work faster and more efficiently than past technologies. As their teacher, it comes down to you introducing these new technologies to students and helping them develop an understanding of what they do and how they work.

When working with younger elementary school students in kindergarten and first grade I realized that they did not have an understanding of what these tools were and how to describe them. Sure, they knew how to work the tools (not so much the mouse) but they were able to describe the tool to me when asking for help or telling their parents what they worked on at school. As a result, this resource came to life.

Do your students know the difference between headphones and earbuds? Do they know the difference between a laptop and desktop computer? This resource, Technology Tools, will support you in introducing various technology tools to your students. Some of the tools include tablet, mouse, earbuds, laptop, and more. The resource includes classroom posters (in color and black and white), cut and paste activity, fill in the blanks, and the activities are digital too.

If you are in need of support and a tool to introduce technology to your students then this resource is for you. After introducing each tool you can display the poster in your classroom that can be referenced all year long. Your students will build a better understanding and vocabulary about the tools they use at school. This resource is a great tool to add to your modern day classroom.

Until Next Time Friends,

Claudia
